About Debbie

Hi!  Iā€™m Debbie Maley (she/her).  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has spent the past decade in different parts of the mental health world providing therapy, facilitating groups, and supporting people in residential care.  Today I am a private practice therapist living out the work I love most.  My favorite thing about being a therapist is fostering a space where people can feel seen and connected.  Therapy is a vulnerable process and I consider it an honor when anyone lets me join them in doing this work together.  I have so much awe and respect for the ways people show up in therapy every day.

My work is informed by both professional and lived experiences.  I am a lifelong learner who will bring in evidence-based practices I have trained in over the years as well as new resources and tools that I continue to learn along the way.  I also bring lived experiences as a transracial Korean adoptee and as a long-term caregiver to a loved one with dementia.  These aspects of my identity profoundly shape who I am and how I move through the world.  My own healing path has inspired me to help others with shared experiences.  I do not expect our paths to mirror each other, but I do believe in the healing power of community and not feeling alone in our struggles.

I earned my Master of Social Work from the University at Buffalo and am licensed to serve residents of New York State (license #089073).  My training background includes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and IFS (Internal Family Systems).

I am so glad you have found me and hope you reach out should you be curious to work together.  Curiosity is a wonderful place to start.  One of my best hopes is to help people tap into their inherent curiosity and compassion for themselves.  When we can access these qualities, so much is possible!
